Brett M. Hesse, MD Brett M. Hesse, MD

Eastern Virginia Medical School

Brett grew up in the small town of Rifle in rural western Colorado and received his bachelor's degree in Spanish and Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He worked for a U.S. Congressman and then spent several years living and working overseas and in Washington DC, with the U.S. State Department. He attended Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. He is married and has two young sons. He loves travel, reading, sports, and virtually all outdoor activities: hiking, mountain biking, skiing, camping, fishing, etc. Brett looks forward to discovering Indiana and developing a strong, broad skill base during his training at St.Vincent.
Katherine E. Horsley, MD Katherine E. Horsley, MD

Hometown: Carrollton Georgia

Medical School: Mercer University School of Medicine

Clinical interests: include primary care, procedures, and rural medicine. I was attracted to the IM/FM program at St. Vincent in Indianapolis because of the excellent training in primary care I would obtain as well as the procedural opportunities in both the ICU and on Wards. I plan to go back to Georgia and work in an underserved area and know that my special training in Internal Medicine and Family Medicine will equip me well to accomplish that goal. I was also attracted to St. Vincent's program because of the Midwest location and proximity to cities like Chicago. I like the City of Indianapolis and all that it offers which is at a lower cost compared to other cities of similar size. I love that the program is close to an International Airport which means flying home regularly is possible. Most of all, I chose St. Vincent because I was inspired by the Staff that work here and the variety of skills they possessed and was eager to work and learn from all of them. The Program Director is motivating and inspiring as well. The residents are kind and down to earth as well as professional and great to work with. Outside of working I really enjoy the parks the city has to offer, the variety of restaurants and theaters as well as the nightlife in multiple locations including Downtown and Broad Ripple.

Ginger Reed, MD Ginger Reed, MD

Indiana University School of Medicine

While originally from the deep south, Ginger finished high school in Aurora, Illinois but now considers Indianapolis her home. Ginger moved frequently during her childhood, living in 5 states before graduating high school. After completing a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree at the University of Iowa, Ginger worked in Indianapolis for four years before going back to medical school at Indiana University. Professional interests include working with an underserved population, both inpatient and outpatient medicine, medical missions and teaching. Ginger hopes to join a family medicine residency faculty after completing residency. She plans on practicing both inpatient and outpatient medicine.. Ginger chose St VIncent for the family feeling within the residency, the breadth of pathology and training provided, the camaraderie of other residencies within St Vincent and the flexibility of the residency to tailor training to specific interests. Outside of the medicine world, Ginger enjoys spending time with her newly adopted Labradoodle, watching Iowa Hawkeye and Indianapolis Colts football, shamelessly spoiling her niece and nephew and spending whatever time available with family and friends.
