Research / Scholarly Activity

While it is known that not every resident will pursue a career in research, knowledge of the research process is important, and it accomplishes several of the ACGME's competencies. All residents will complete a research project, which is presented at Resident Research Day in June:

PGY-1
Complete a written case report or review article.

PGY-2
Present a review of their proposed research project. It is anticipated that by this time, residents will have a proposal and should be nearly ready to present to the Institutional Review Board.

PGY-3
Present a completed clinical research project.

PGY-4
Function as discussion facilitators for the PGY 3 projects.

Residents who have papers or posters accepted for presentation at a scientific program will have provided, with approval of the Residency Director, reimbursement for travel expenses in addition to their regular meeting allowance.
